Became a Cottonbaler in December 1959. Spent four years in the Combat Support Company. Recon platoon. Loved my time there. Great Unit, great guys, and Aberg was a neat town.

I commanded 2-7 IN at Fort Stewart from Dec 92-94.  I was honored to deploy the Battalion to Intrinsic Action in the summer of 94  and then deploy back to Kuwait on 8 Oct 94 as the lead element for Operation Vigilant Warrior. Several years later in March 2003, as the V Corps G3, I was able to pass thru the attack lanes with 2-7 IN and fight alongside them in Iraqi Freedom. My oldest son graduated from West Point in 2006, and after a year of Infantry and Ranger school was assigned to Fort Stewart.  His first assignment, was..yes the Cottonbalers 2-7 IN (2008-2010).  So was able to discreetly visit and walk the halls and see the Cottonbalers in action.

I have been serving in eastern Europe now for 11 years, since retiring in July 2004. I currently work with the military in the country of Georgia, an important country in the Caucuses that borders Russia (they fought a war with Russia in 2008 and still 10,000 Russians occupying the north).   This year, yes the Cottonbalers 2-7 In (A Co) will deploy to the country of Georgia  and train with one of Georgian battalions.  So once again, thousands of miles from the other Georgia (USA), I will have the opportunity to see the Cottonbalers (including the Bradleys firing) in action.   My heart is still with the Cottonbalers.  Greetings to all!  God bless.

Hi Cottonbaler's

I served from 1987-1990. It was a great place to serve. I have many fond memories of my time. It's said to see that the Unit is no longer in Aschaffenburg. I can't believe it's been nearly 25 years ago since I was there.
God Bless,

Michael Frazier

Great unit. I commanded CSC in Germany, 1979-1980, then was assigned as the S-4. Richard McDaniels was the BC.
