Comments: Hello fellow Cottonbaler's, I had the honor and distinction of serving in HHC 2/7 during Desert Shield and Storm as a 4 duece mortarman. I discovered this site by accident and would love to catch up with some of my brothers. If you were part of our unit I would love to hear from you.

Comments: I am writing this for Tony Montoya 2nd battalion 7th infantry. He is 91 years old and I wanted to find some info on his buddies, especially photos. Tony was one of the first GI's through the gates of Dachau Concentration Camp. His men laid waste to the guard towers. Forgive me my ignorance on this subject and don't mistake it for ungratefulness for the sacrifices made by all. He was a Sargent when the war ended. He started in Anzio. Somebody has taken all of Tony's uniforms, metals and paperwork. Some don't believe his stories. I do. He is an Apache Indian born in New Mexico. He studied mechanical engineering in Orange County California. If you can help or point me in the direction of info, especially photographs I would be grateful. Thomas Weekley
Comments: I was in C Co 3/7 in 1991-1992 under Captain Flowers and when General Barry McCaffrey. At the time, I was a Specialist. In 92-93, I was reassigned to HHC 3/7th in S-3 and loved my job from then on.
Comments: Cottonbalers! I'd love to hear from anyone who served with or under my late father, LTC Charles C. "Dick" Clark, Jr. He commanded a battalion in the 7th Infantry in A-burg in the early 1960s. I have some old photos from that era to share with those interested. My family lived in Wurzburg and Aschaffenburg during that time and I have fond memories of it. Dad was not a West Pointer, he was a draftee in 1941 who got his commission from OCS, so he always retained a love and respect for the non-coms and EMs he commanded, as he had been one himself. His experience with the 7th Infantry was so precious to him that he used the handle "Cottonbaler" during the CB craze of the late 1970s and 1980s. My e-mail is: buddydharma@hotmail.com
Comments: As Rutherford NJ Borough Historian, I gave a talk recently about WWI as part of Rutherford 'a commemoration of the centennial of WWI 1914-2014. Many of the young Rutherford men who fought in Europe - including those killed in action - were attached to a unit under the 107th Infantry and enlisted through the 7th NGNY. The question was asked, why the 7th in New York under O "Ryan? Was there not infantry company or regiment for them to join in New Jersey? There was a militia - Company M - active during the Spanish American War that many from Rutherford had joined. Some of those boys joined the troops headed by General Pershing in Mexico. So the question remained, why did so many of these Rutherford boys end up in the 7th NGNY? Any thoughts or information about this would be appreciated. Here is our special web page for the event www.neworleans1815.cottonbaler.com You can see we have activites planned beginning Jan 6 and running through Sunday evening January 11. We would be honored to have the BATTN Color Guards with us on January 8 as we troop the line where the 7th originally stood. Plus that afternoon we have a special memorial for Musician Jordan Noble 7th USI at his tomb in St. Louis cemetery #2. We will have recreations of five of the battles of the campaign. These include the action of Dec 23, 1814 where the 7th saved the American guns and of January 8 where at the point of the bayonet the 7th recaptured the forward American Redoubt. Please contact us.
