WWII: Does anyone happen to have known an 18-year old, red-haired soldier from Rumford, Maine named George C. Arsenault?  He was in Company A, and I believe he arrived on Anzio beach head as replacement infantry from Camp Blanding at the beginning of May 1944.  He fought during the breakthrough to Rome, became Squad Leader following the heavy casualties that his platoon suffered and was promoted to Sergeant on 24 June. He subsequently lost his life on the first day of the invasion of southern France (15 August 1944). I would very much appreciate any recollections that you may have, either of him or details of what happened to Co. A on the 15th August.  My understanding is that the Seventh Infantry Regiment landed at Alpha Beach at Cavalaire, but I have few details.

Next Tuesday 9 April 2013, 28 high school students from Readfield, Maine will be paying homage to George at the Rhone American Cemetery in Draguignan, France. I would be happy to read out any message that you might want to send.  The ceremony will be attended by the Consul General of the US Consulate in Marseille, the President of the Association France-Etats Unis in Toulon and the President of the Navy League, Cannes.

Best wishes to all,

My father, Joseph 'Pepe' Fernandez, was in Korea, Oct 1950- Nov 1951, 3 div/7th Inf Reg/2nd Bn/G company/ 2nd Plt, plt sgt. He is not doing well and rarely told me or my siblings anything about the war. He has been looking for some of his plt members, for a long time. His medic, Leo Dubson, recently passed away in NY ( google his name for obituary).
If anyone knows about Dimencio Rivera, Louis Gaybrant, Dusty Rhodes, Gruby, Stan Jackowski (1st Cav), Agosto Teyito Pratt, or Joe Rodriguez, he would really like to know what happened to them. Last saw Rivera at VA in NYC in mid-70's. Rodriguez was his fox-hole partner and last heard had moved to WV with his daughter.
If anyone can provide any info on Hills 897, hill 50, 396, 395, or 488 please advise, I am trying to find out where in Korea these hills were.

I was a member of the 3/7th Inf from 75-77 when they were part of the 197th Infantry at Ft Benning, GA.  Today they had a story of Marines killed in a 60mm mortar accident and this brought back memories of a 60mm mortar accident the 3/7th had in Panama while I was with them.  "Cottonbaler's"

To my brothers of Bco 1/7inf A-burg, I hope everyone is ok.  I sometimes take a stroll back in time, and remember the good and no so good times.  I serve from '89 to 91.  If anyone from my company shows up please email me.  Thank you and God Bless.
