A coin was found on a beach in Mexico, it belonged to someone in the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. The coin is from Operation Iraqi Freedom, has fallen soldiers listed on the back, and is coin 007.
A friend posted it on Facebook trying to find the owner. Would love to help get the right people in contact.
If someone would like to get in contact with those who have it please send me an email, buffluv1@hotmail.com

Gentlemen:

I am a retired Naval Officer conducting research on WWII casualties from Monroe County, NY.  In the process of unearthing information about PVT Mario Pomponio, USA (SN: 42097185), of Fairport, NY, I learned of his valor on 30 Jan 45 in France. He was a brand new replacement in Co. E, 7th Infantry Regt., 3rd Infantry Div. when he was involved in two combat actions that earned him the DSC. Unfortunately, he was killed a day later, on 31 Jan 45.  I came across a summary of the combat actions that lead to his being awarded the DSC, and I am convinced that the member should have received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery and sacrifice.  But in order to force the powers that be to review his case and upgrade his award to the CMOH, I must produce addition information about what he did the second last day of his life.  I need your help to identify and locate ANY living individuals who might have seen or heard what transpired that day in France.  Is that feasible?  Request ANY assistance you might be able to provide. Thank you!
Sincerely,
CAPT S. F. Momano, USN (Ret.)
