HHQ 1st BN 7th Inf regt  Jaeger Kasserne Aschaffenburg, Germany 1965 - 1967

Those are years I will never forget.  Did not much care for the Army "FTA" but had a really GREAT time in Germany.  First trip to Hohenfels major training area, my buddies left me in charge (by myself) during a training exercise and I was captured by the enemy.  Since I was only out of basic / AIT for a short time, I managed to escape and was able to hitch a ride to the main area - where, since I had had nothing to eat, I sat down and was enjoying a hamburger when the company commander walked in... he asked me what the hell I was doing and didn't I know that the whole unit was searching for me.  I replied that I thought it was my duty to escape and so, I did.  He didn't know whether to be angry with me or not... and I had done what I was taught in basic...  will never forget that day!

I want to wish all Cottonbalers past and present a Merry Christmas and Happy-Healthy New Year. Thank-you for doing what others can't.

"We are but warriors for the working-day; Our gayness and our gilt are all besmirch'd With rainy marching in the painful field; And time hath worn us into slovenry: But, by the mass, our hearts are in the trim; And my poor soldiers tell me, yet ere night They'll be in fresher robes...."

Gods speed and God Bless you all! Cottonbalers-By-God, Dam Fine Solders.

I was a cottonbaler in ft benning during the Cold War from 86 to 87. I was with C Co. 3/7. We weren't that motivated as a unit due to the fact we mostly supported the training at Benning. I was still proud of the lineage and proud of all you before and after me serving our country and unit. I hope to find more of my unit members but until now,I have not succeeded.

A Co 2/7 from 95-97. 1st platoon Bradley driver, I remember we had the stupid motto of "get some". I believe our C.O. was Capt Adgie and the 1st Sgt was Dean. Of course i remember my battle buddies Krieger(Packer fan) ,Kinzinger,Sgt Gregory. Others were Sloper, Felcher,Sgt Ippolito, Sgt Conrad, Logan, (BT)... So many others, memory is bad. Funny who you remember. Kreiger as far as i know probably graduated from U of Wis. it would be nice to catch up and say hi to anyone from that time. Great memories of being drunk in Savannah Ga on St Pattys Day!
